Wednesday 1st June – bike *** – Two rivers including lunch by the River Deben at the Ferry – sunshine and heavy showers.

British summertime started well with some nice sunshine so enjoyed doing my exercises in the back garden with swifts flying overhead with the only thing spoiling it was the local church ringing its bell, the same three notes for hours, nothing uplifting and joyous just gave me a headache, lets hope they improve for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations! With the weather so nice we decided to pack a picnic and head down to Felixstowe Ferry and enjoy it by the River Deben. We made it down to the pleasantly quiet prom around one just as some very black clouds appeared! With the winds offshore and light we soon made it to our spot by the Deben and with the tide high we hoped to see some boats motor past! We enjoyed our yummy salad enjoying the peace and quiet with the odd yacht, fishing boat and motor cruiser pass but with some menacing clouds getting closer we thought it best to make a move. Mag returned home while I continued to the boat yard to get some pics just as the rain arrived and I got pretty wet as I cycled across the golf course, in fact it rained a lot but I carried onto the view point café at Felixstowe docks where I took shelter for a bit before moving onto the small wooden pier as the Harwich foot ferry appeared and the sun came out again:) Then back along the prom, up Bent Hill and home for a cuppa and cake with Mag putting up her bunting but we will be celebrating quietly by ourselves as we cant stand crowds!
I had a good start to the month with my pics, getting one in the local pater (Star) and one on About Anglia weather, got to love Chris Page:)
